Tom is a wizard, the Innkeeper, and the landlord of the Leaky Cauldron. When the usual sisters who helped tend the bar went on holiday, he hired Donna Shacklebolt and Sirius Black to help. He also instructed them to help train his nephew, Icarus Frop .

Tom passed away or retired after 1998, since Hannah Abbott eventually took over as landlady and lived at the inn with her husband, Neville Longbottom.
